Pastor Richard Booker.
Richard and his wife, Jennifer, are natives of Greensboro, NC. They now live in Norlina with their 3 daughters. He has a passion for children and youth ministries and a love for rural churches.
Before coming to Zion, Richard served as the Pastor at Rock Creek UMC (2011 to 2016) and as Children’s Minister at Bellemont UMC (2005-2011). Before coming into the Methodist Church, Richard served as Associate Pastor of Children’s and Family Ministries at Fishermen’s House Church (1998-2003) in Tulsa, OK and in evangelism ministries at Cathedral of His Glory in Greensboro, NC (1993-1995).
He has a degree in Early Childhood Development from Alamance Community College, a Bachelors in Technical Writing from North Carolina A&T, and recently graduated with a Master in Divinity from Duke Divinity School. He is part of the Thriving Rural Communities program at Duke and is committed to revitalizing the rural churches of North Carolina.
Richard is an avid movie buff and a huge fan of classic cartoons. Richard’s favorite catch phrase is Carpe Diem (seize the day), right after Carpe Pizza (dude…let’s get some pizza)!
